About Me

Hello! My name is Dakota Williams, I'm a game designer from Burlington Vermont that specializes in systems design. Throughout my life I have had a very strong connection to games, whether it be playing console games with friends or going down to the Jersey shore and playing in arcades with my family. I believe that games are something that we can all create memories with and it is my goal as a designer to create something so that other people can share those memories with the ones they love!
Throughout my four years at Champlain College I have gotten the opportunity to work on over a dozen projects that have allowed me to hone both my design and collaborative skills. Since Champlain gives us the opportunity to work interdisciplinary with other designers, producers, programmers and artists I have acquired several years of development team experience. Durring my time at the school, I have also been given the opportunity to become Scrum certified making me an expert in agile development and the iterative process. Working on these teams has given me experience in various roles such as Lead Designer, Systems Designer, Level Designer, Acting Producer and Product Owner.
My strongest skill would be my ability to solve creative problems with solutions that others might not think of. I have always been drawn to the obscure and the unique and I try to let that shine through with my designs. Theming and contextualizing mechanics within the world of a game as well as receiving and integrating feedback from peers and testers alike are all favorite parts of the process. I pride myself on creating and maintaining supportive and honest team culture where members of my team are free to speak their minds and are comfortable communicating.
